SURREY, B.C. – Surrey commuters who pay cash are overpaying on every single trip. An adult 1-zone fare costs $2.85 with Compass Card Stored Value versus $3.50 in cash, and the gap widens on longer trips: 2-zone drops from $5.10 cash to $4.20 stored value, and 3-zone from $6.70 to $5.40.
A Compass Card is TransLink’s reloadable fare card, and Stored Value is its pay-as-you-go balance option.
Concession fares apply to seniors 65 and older and youth aged 13 to 18 with valid photo ID. Children 12 and under ride free.
For regular riders, the math favours passes. A 1-zone monthly pass costs $117.20, while an adult all-zone DayPass runs $12.55. Monthly pass holders also get all-zone travel after 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and holidays.
One caveat: fares come from TransLink’s published fare schedule and can change. Confirm current prices with TransLink before budgeting.
What happens next: TransLink reviews fares annually. Apna News will update this guide when the next fare schedule takes effect.
