DELTA, B.C. - A southbound white Kenworth tractor-trailer struck the Ladner Trunk Road overpass on Highway 99 on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, damaging the overpass and shutting down both southbound lanes of the highway, BC Highway Patrol says. Police are asking witnesses, and anyone with dash-camera video, to come forward.
The call came in to police at 10:39 a.m. on November 4. When officers arrived, there was visible damage to the overpass, which necessitated a shutdown of both southbound lanes on Highway 99 as well as the Ladner Trunk Road overpass itself.
The driver of the white Kenworth tractor-trailer stopped at the scene. No injuries were reported in the police release. Police are working with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) to determine the exact cause of the collision.
“We’re working with the BC Ministry of Transportation to ensure that the overpass is safe, and we’re asking drivers to avoid the area because delays will be significant,” said Sergeant Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “If you are a witness, and particularly if you have dash-camera video of the events leading up to the collision, please call police.”
Highway 99 is the main corridor between Surrey, Delta and Richmond through the George Massey Tunnel, so a full southbound closure at Ladner backs up traffic across the region’s commuter routes. Crews were working to reopen the road; motorists are encouraged to monitor DriveBC.ca to determine when the roads in the area reopen.
Witnesses, and anyone with dash-camera video of the collision or the moments before it, can call BC Highway Patrol, Burnaby, at 604-526-9744 and quote file (1004) 2026-1918.
