MENLO PARK, California - Meta has launched Spaces, a new feature that lets anyone build a custom experience inside the Muse app simply by describing an idea, from a holiday gift tracker to a small-business order tracker.

A space is a custom experience created inside Muse by describing an idea in plain language. Muse then builds it, and the user can keep adjusting it as they go, adding what is missing, trying a new look, or changing how it works. Every space becomes part of Muse, so it can be kept in the sidebar, moved into the main tabs, hidden when not needed, or scheduled to appear at set times, such as a weekly planner up front during the workweek and weekend plans on Saturday.

Meta’s examples show how broad the idea is. Spaces can be a shopping hub that pulls together holiday and birthday gift ideas, wishlists from Instagram saves, and Marketplace listings and buyer messages; a school dashboard that finds events relevant to your children in school emails and adds them to your calendar; a music tracker for favourite artists, new releases and upcoming shows; a wedding planner with an RSVP list, vendor invoices and to-dos; a trivia game; a podcast studio; an order tracker for a small business, with new orders, customer messages and what needs to ship today; a client hub for freelance work, with projects, deadlines and invoices; or a trip planner with flights, hotels, reservations and a day-by-day itinerary.

Spaces can also connect to the apps a person already uses, so concert dates, price changes or savings progress show up without being entered by hand. Users can check things off, add notes and make edits right in the space.

Starting November 6, spaces are available everywhere Muse is available. Meta says it is exploring ways for people to share spaces with others for a more collaborative experience, but sharing is not available yet. The company is also rolling out specialized versions of its models to Muse, trained with learnings from Muse Wonder, to improve the overall experience.

What it means for Surrey

Two of Meta’s examples land directly on Surrey life. The small-business order tracker fits the city’s many family-run shops, restaurants and trades, where orders, customer messages and shipping dates now live in separate apps. The school dashboard fits households juggling school emails, events and calendars across Surrey’s large school district. Both are free to build inside an app many residents already use.
