SURREY, B.C. - If your kids’ swimming lessons or your winter fitness classes are on your mind, put Sunday, November 29 in your calendar now. That is the evening Surrey residents get first access to winter recreation programs, and popular classes at busy times fill before general registration even opens.

The dates, in the City’s own words

The City of Surrey’s registration pages state: “Priority registration for Surrey residents begins November 29 at 9pm for most programs” and December 13 at 9pm for aquatic programs. Non-residents can register for all programs starting December 20 at 9pm.

The Winter Recreation Guide can be viewed online starting November 16, and in recreation facilities starting November 21, so you can pick your programs and backups before registration night rather than during it.

How to be ready at 9 p.m.

Registration runs through your MySurrey account. Two things trip people up every season. First, Surrey-resident account holders must have their address verified to keep priority eligibility, so check that before November 29, not during the rush. Second, on seasonal registration dates the City advises logging in and selecting the registration link between 8:45 p.m. and 8:59 p.m. so you are in when the window opens. Registration is also available by phone at 604-501-5100, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What it means for you

Swimming lessons, preschool programs and prime-time fitness classes are the fastest to fill. Your resident priority window is the whole ballgame: November 29 for most programs, December 13 for aquatics, and December 20 is when everyone else joins the queue. Verify your address this week, browse the guide when it posts on November 16, and have a second-choice time ready for each program.
