Jody Toor was elected on October 19, 2024 as the Conservative MLA for Langley-Willowbrook, with a constituency office on Fraser Highway in Langley. In the legislature she serves as caucus chair for the BC Conservative caucus.
Born in Langley, she came to politics from health care. She runs her own integrative holistic clinic in Langley, and her party biography notes she holds a double PhD in integrative medicine and humanitarian services with the Board of Integrative Medicine. The same biography notes she is non-prescribing and is not registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. She is married to Dr. Charn Toor, whose optometry clinic is in Walnut Grove, and they have two daughters.
A breast cancer survivor, she has said the experience deepened her commitment to health care focused on prevention, early detection and a holistic approach to wellness. Outside the clinic she has worked as a community volunteer with local food banks and charity groups, work her biography says shaped her views on health disparities and access to nutritious food. News coverage has listed her stated priorities as health care, affordability, seniors' issues, public safety, infrastructure and education.
In the legislature she put that health focus into legislation. She sponsored Bill M 204, the Perinatal and Postnatal Mental Health Strategy Act, which would require the health minister to develop and table a provincial strategy covering universal access to perinatal and postnatal mental health care, provider training, trauma-informed care, stigma reduction and grief counselling for pregnancy loss. The bill also calls for consultation with care providers, people with lived experience and Indigenous governing bodies, a strategy within a year of the law taking effect, and a review of the law after five years. It passed second reading in 2025 and was amended in the Select Standing Committee that May.
Editor's note: the legislature was dissolved on September 22, 2026 and a provincial election was called for October 24, 2026. Offices above reflect the 43rd Parliament.
