Creston: Vehicle recovered in 2004 missing person case

Creston RCMP are providing an update on the disappearance of George Franklin Davis, reported missing from the Creston area in July 2004.

On September 24, a volunteer search and recovery dive team assisting the family located a fully submerged vehicle in the Kootenay River near the Old Ferry Landing. Human remains were discovered inside the vehicle.

Investigators determined the vehicle’s description and licence plate matched records associated with Davis. On September 28, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team assisted with recovering the vehicle.

While the identity has not been formally confirmed, investigators believe the remains are those of Davis based on the vehicle and circumstances. Positive identification is pending forensic analysis and confirmation through the BC Coroners Service.

Based on evidence gathered to date, the death is not believed to be suspicious and no foul play is suspected. The investigation remains ongoing.
