DELTA, B.C. - November 6, 2026
The City of Delta will kick off the Christmas season with two free Christmas tree lightings this month: Ladner Village on Thursday, November 26, and North Delta on Saturday, November 28, 2026. Both events run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and are free to attend.
Ladner Village lights up on Thursday, November 26
In Ladner, the City is continuing the Ladner Business Association’s longstanding Christmas tree lighting tradition, flipping the light switch in Ladner Village. Families can take in the village’s small-town charm and pick up food and treats from local businesses during or after the event.
North Delta follows on Saturday, November 28
The North Delta lighting takes place at North Delta Recreation Centre, with the main tree located outside the North Delta Centre for the Arts. The evening includes the Jingle Bell Bites food area, a public skate at the recreation centre rink, and a classic holiday film at the Centre for the Arts for $5, with popcorn included in the ticket price.
What is on at both events
Every year, families from across Delta gather for hot chocolate, music, games, seasonal crafts, cookie decorating, all-ages entertainment and Christmas letter writing. New for 2026, both events also add photos with Santa and artisan markets with local vendors, set up for holiday gift and stocking-stuffer shopping.
“Our Christmas traditions run deep in Delta,” said Mayor Melissa Granum. “Our tree lightings bring us together to celebrate the season, support local businesses, and share in the sense of community that makes this time of year so meaningful.”
Why it matters for Delta and North Delta families
Both lightings are free, close to home, and built around local businesses - the Ladner event sends families into Ladner Village shops and restaurants, while the North Delta evening pairs the lighting with skating and a low-cost film at the recreation centre. North Delta also borders Surrey’s Newton and Fleetwood neighbourhoods, making the November 28 event an easy holiday outing for Surrey families on the Delta side of the line.
