President’s Choice and SeaQuest Shrimp Recalled Over Undeclared Mustard

SURREY, B.C. - Two frozen shrimp products sold in Surrey grocery stores are being recalled because they contain mustard that is not declared on the label, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency says.

The recall covers President’s Choice brand Black Tiger Shrimp with Mild Cocktail Sauce, sold in a 568 g package, and SeaQuest brand Shrimp Ring with Mild Cocktail Sauce, sold in a 454 g package. The recalling firm is Loblaw Companies Limited, and the products were distributed nationally.

The CFIA published the recall notice on October 6, 2026. Its instruction to shoppers, stores and restaurants is simple: do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products.

President’s Choice and SeaQuest are Loblaw house brands, sold at banner stores across Surrey that include Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills and Shoppers Drug Mart. Shrimp rings are a freezer staple for parties and family gatherings, which makes a careful check of the best before codes worthwhile before the busy holiday season.

For the President’s Choice product, look for UPC 0 60383 18048 5 and the best before codes 2026 OC 06 and 2026 OC 07.

For the SeaQuest shrimp ring, look for UPC 0 60383 18047 8. The recalled best before codes are 2026 NO 05, 2026 NO 06, 2026 NO 26, 2026 NO 27, 2027 MR 04, 2027 AL 27, 2027 MA 07, 2027 JN 10, 2027 JN 11, 2027 JN 15 and 2027 JL 13. The codes are printed on the package in the same short form, so shoppers can match them exactly.

Only the listed products and codes are affected. Other President’s Choice and SeaQuest products are not part of this recall.

Mustard is one of Canada’s priority food allergens. The CFIA warns that people with an allergy or sensitivity to mustard could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the recalled products. That risk is easy to miss, because mustard is not an ingredient most shoppers would expect to find in a shrimp ring with cocktail sauce.

Surrey shoppers who find a matching package in the freezer should not eat it or serve it to guests. The CFIA’s standing advice for recalled food is to throw it out or return it to the store where it was bought.

Anyone who has eaten one of the recalled products and develops symptoms of an allergic reaction should seek medical attention right away.

The recall identification number is RA-82733. The CFIA says it is verifying that the recalled products are removed from store shelves.
