Minister Sidhu to lead 300-delegate Team Canada trade mission to India, October 12-17

OTTAWA, B.C. – International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu will lead nearly 300 Canadian business delegates on a Team Canada Trade Mission to India from October 12 to 17, 2026, with stops in Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Global Affairs Canada announced the mission October 9, calling it Canada’s largest commercial engagement in India in recent years and the largest trade delegation sent to India in over 30 years.

The mission covers aerospace and space, clean technologies and energy transition, information and communication technologies, life sciences, and agri-food. Delegates will meet Indian decision makers, industry players, and potential clients to expand commercial ties.

The trip builds on ongoing talks toward a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which the government aims to conclude by the end of the year. Canada wants to more than double two-way trade with India to $70 billion annually by 2030, up from $30.4 billion in 2025.

“Nearly 300 Canadian business delegates are joining the Team Canada Trade Mission I am leading to India next week to secure new opportunities for our businesses and workers in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets,” Sidhu said.

For Surrey’s South Asian business community, the mission signals deepening Canada-India commercial ties, with agri-food and clean technology among the priority sectors.
