SURREY, B.C. - November is Financial Literacy Month in Canada, and this year’s campaign from the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) is built around a simple idea: talk money.
The 2026 theme is “Talk Money.” The agency says everyday conversations about finances help people navigate decisions, plan ahead and learn from each other, whether the subject is taking out a mortgage, managing debt, choosing financial products or protecting against fraud.
One conversation the FCAC wants Canadians to have in particular is about fraud. Many victims stay silent out of embarrassment or stigma, the agency notes, and talking openly helps others recognize warning signs, avoid scams and know where to turn for help.
The agency also urges Canadians to review their banking needs and options, noting that financial products, fees and promotional offers change over time. Canadians are invited to share a memorable money conversation that influenced their financial journey under the banner “If your wallet could talk,” and organizations are sharing their November initiatives with the hashtags #FLM2026 and #TalkMoney.
Financial Literacy Month has been marked in Canada every November since 2011, and this year’s campaign coincides with the FCAC’s 25th anniversary.
November money dates for Surrey families
The Canada Child Benefit, including related provincial and territorial programs, is paid on November 20, 2026. That is the key date for Surrey families this month.
Two payments are not coming in November. The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, the successor to the GST/HST credit, has 2026 payment dates of July 3 and October 5 only. The Advanced Canada Workers Benefit was paid on January 12, July 10 and October 9. Neither has a November date.
Recipients can check their next payment in CRA My Account and sign up for payment reminders about one week before a payment is issued.
