ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - Abbotsford’s new Board of Education was sworn in on November 3, 2026, beginning a four-year term, with Rhonda Pauls selected as Board Chair and Arsh Kaler as Vice Chair.
Seven trustees were officially sworn into office at the meeting: Pauls as Chair, Kaler as Vice Chair, and Tanya Coghill, Freddy Latham, Eric Nyvall, Mike Rauch and Shannon Rose.
Together, the trustees will guide a district serving more than 20,000 students across 46 schools. The board’s work continues under the district’s 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, focused on Student Success, Optimized Resources, Engaging Opportunities and a Progressive Workforce.
The Abbotsford board’s inauguration follows a week of inaugural ceremonies across the Fraser Valley, as school boards elected on October 17 take office for the 2026-2030 term. Abbotsford families will see the new board’s first decisions in the coming weeks as trustees set committee assignments and the meeting schedule for the new term.
