Aldergrove border crossing shifts hours Nov 1 to match U.S. time change

LANGLEY, B.C. - The Lynden-Aldergrove border crossing will open and close an hour later starting November 1, shifting to 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily through March 14, 2027.

The change keeps the crossing aligned with Washington State, where clocks fall back an hour on November 1. British Columbia no longer observes the seasonal time change.

The Canada Border Services Agency confirmed the new hours in an October 9 statement. Eight other B.C. land ports of entry are making the same seasonal adjustment.

Crossings that operate 24 hours a day, including Sumas-Huntingdon and Peace Arch, are not affected.

The same seasonal shift applies to eight other B.C. crossings that close overnight: Carson, Cascade, Chopaka, Fraser, Midway, Nelway, Pleasant Camp and Waneta.

“This change follows British Columbia’s decision to adopt permanent year-round daylight saving time,” the CBSA statement explained. “Since the United States will continue to change its clocks seasonally, adjusting the operating hours at the BC ports of entry in the fall and spring means alignment of service hours between Canada and the U.S. will be maintained year-round.”

Travellers should plan accordingly, especially for early-morning crossings in November.
