BURNABY, B.C. - Burnaby RCMP have arrested a 47-year-old Burnaby man in connection with a series of mischief incidents at a North Burnaby parkade, where many vehicles were vandalized over the past few weeks.
The first incident was reported on Monday, October 5, 2026, just before 6:30 p.m., when frontline officers responded to multiple reports of a man smashing vehicle windows in a parkade at Brentwood Mall. Officers conducted extensive patrols of the parkade and the surrounding area, but the suspect had already fled the scene.
While investigators were working to identify the suspect, a second incident occurred. On Saturday, October 24, 2026, just before 12:30 a.m., Burnaby RCMP received reports of a man smashing windows with a sledgehammer in a parkade at Brentwood Mall. Police arrived on scene within minutes and took the suspect into custody without incident.
“These two incidents caused significant damage and unnecessary stress for many vehicle owners,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP. “The arrest is an important step, and our investigation remains ongoing as we move toward charge approval.”
Police have not named the man. Burnaby RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
