Delta’s DIYAfest Returns Nov 7 with Illuminated Ferris Wheel for Diwali

DELTA, B.C. – The City of Delta is bringing back its celebration of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas with DIYAfest on Saturday, November 7, at the North Delta Recreation Centre.

After the success of last year’s inaugural event, the 2026 festival brings an expanded entertainment lineup, food offerings, and all-ages fun from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The brightest addition to this year’s festival is a full-sized illuminated Ferris Wheel, set to take the event to new heights.

DIYAfest celebrates Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, and Bandi Chhor Divas, the Sikh celebration marking the release of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji from imprisonment. Both fall in late October and early November, and both carry themes of light triumphing over darkness that resonate across South Asian communities.

Delta is home to a large and growing South Asian population, and last year’s inaugural DIYAfest drew families from across Delta, Surrey, and the surrounding communities. The expanded 2026 edition reflects the event’s popularity and the city’s commitment to celebrating its diverse cultural heritage.

The festival runs from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the North Delta Recreation Centre. Admission details and the full entertainment lineup are expected to be announced closer to the date.
