Langley: Five charged in extortion investigation targeting auto dealership

Langley RCMP have announced charges against five men following a major extortion investigation dubbed Project E_PURSUANCE.

The investigation began in June 2025 after the co-owners of an auto dealership reported significant extortion demands. Two targeted attacks followed, involving arson and shootings at the business’s Surrey and Langley locations.

Investigators identified a group allegedly involved in extortions, trafficking prohibited firearms, and trafficking controlled substances. On October 1, the BC Prosecution Service laid charges against five men aged 21 to 24, including extortion, recklessly discharging firearms, causing damage by fire or explosion, unauthorized transfer of prohibited firearms, and trafficking cocaine.

One accused was in India. Working with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the Canada Border Services Agency, and RCMP liaison officers, investigators facilitated a controlled operation allowing him to enter Canada, where he was arrested on arrival in Toronto. The other four were arrested in Surrey. All five remain in custody.

The investigation led to the seizure of four firearms, ammunition, magazines, and suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and opium.

Project E_PURSUANCE was a joint forces operation led by Langley RCMP with support from CFSEU-BC and Federal Policing Pacific Region through the BC Provincial Extortion Task Force.
