Mandeep Dhaliwal was elected on October 19, 2024 as the Conservative MLA for Surrey North, a new riding created for that election. Nominated as the Conservative candidate in January 2024, he flipped a longtime NDP seat, unseating two time cabinet minister Rachna Singh with 50.7 per cent of the vote.

He came to Canada in his 20s and grew up in Surrey. Before politics he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in India, where he played kabaddi at the national level and won a gold medal in an inter-college tournament. That sports background carried into his legislative work: he serves as the Official Opposition's critic for Parental Rights and Sports.

His working life has been in small business. His official biography says he built Fixman Auto Glass Repair and Fixman Auto Glass Supplier into trusted Surrey brands, and his 2026 legislature disclosure fills in the structure: the group covers repair shops in Surrey, Langley and Vancouver plus the supply operation, with his wife owning 100 per cent of the Fixman companies and serving as president and director. Pawan, a registered nurse, draws a salary and dividends from the family company, and the couple's son Diltaj rounds out the family. Health care is a dinner table topic in his house, and so is the pressure small businesses face.

The community side of his story is well documented. His official party biography describes his membership in the BC Sikh Motorcycle Club, including a 2016 ride from BC to Ontario in which he played a pivotal role in raising $100,000 for the BC Cancer Society, and a fundraising ride from Canada to India that set a world record while generating $100,000 for Khalsa Aid.

In the legislature, the Indo-Canadian Voice reported that he gave notice to introduce a motion calling on British Columbia to formally recognize the 1984 Sikh Genocide, honouring those killed, survivors and families. His stated priorities also include affordable housing, education, health care and environmental sustainability.

One note to avoid confusion: he is the provincial Conservative MLA, a different person from Sukh Dhaliwal, the federal Liberal MP for Surrey Newton. Same last name, different legislatures, different parties.

Editor's note: the legislature was dissolved on September 22, 2026 and a provincial election was called for October 24, 2026. Offices above reflect the 43rd Parliament.
