UPDATE (Oct 19, 2026): Williams Lake RCMP confirms Frances Svisdahl has been located safe and sound. The search has been called off.
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. – Williams Lake RCMP is asking the public to help find 81-year-old Frances Svisdahl, who was last seen at her home on the 900-block of Highway 20 in Williams Lake on October 18, 2026, at around 2:30 p.m.
Frances has not been seen or heard from since.
She is described as a Caucasian female, 81 years old, 5 feet tall (152 cm), with dark grey and white hair and brown eyes. She wears glasses. She was likely wearing a red windbreaker, as seen in the attached photo.
Frances may be driving a black 2015 Ford F150 with B.C. licence plate 332 7FH. She likes to visit the communities of Horsefly, Likely and Riske Creek.
“Frances’ family says that she often likes to take drives to the neighbouring communities but that she is not usually gone this long and that she always returns home. There was an unconfirmed sighting of Frances at the Walmart in Williams Lake around 7:30 p.m. on October 18 that investigators are currently working to verify,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, BC RCMP spokesperson for Northern B.C.
“Today, we are reaching out to the public for assistance in locating Frances Svisdahl and are asking that if anyone sees her or her vehicle, they call their local police non-emergency line to report it,” Cooper said.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Frances Svisdahl is urged to contact their local police.
