VANCOUVER, B.C. - The remains of Private Aidan Goulding came home to British Columbia on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as first responders lined the airport route in salute and a police motorcade escorted him from Vancouver International Airport to a funeral home in New Westminster.
At the request of his family, media were invited to observe the motorcade. Private Goulding’s flight arrived at 12:42 p.m. Pacific time, and the motorcade departed at approximately 1:30 p.m., according to a Canadian Armed Forces media advisory. First responders paid their respects along the south side of Grant McConachie Way at the airport as the motorcade left YVR.
Private Goulding, of North Vancouver, was one of four members of the Canadian Armed Forces killed in a fire-related training incident at CFB Wainwright, Alberta, at approximately 4 p.m. MDT on October 17, 2026, the Department of National Defence said in its statement on the incident. He served with the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, based in Edmonton.
The other members killed were Sergeant Morgan Wong, of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, serving with the 3rd Battalion; Private Shaun Farrell; and Private Hayden Lykkemark, of Langley, B.C. Thirty-nine other Canadian Armed Forces members were injured in the incident.
Wednesday’s arrival brought Private Goulding back to the province where he grew up, 18 days after the Wainwright fire. The motorcade’s destination was a funeral home in New Westminster. Apna News joins British Columbians in offering condolences to Private Goulding’s family, and to the families of Sergeant Wong, Private Farrell and Private Lykkemark.
