The brown Ford F250 was reported stolen from a property on Pentland Crescent in the early morning hours of October 30, 2026, the detachment said.

On November 1, the truck was spotted near the Kersley General Store by a member of the public, who pursued it at high rates of speed into downtown Quesnel. Shortly before 3:00 p.m., the stolen truck was involved in a serious collision with an uninvolved Ford Focus at the intersection of Kinchant Street and Carson Avenue.

Officers have identified who they believe was driving the stolen vehicle and are searching for the man after he left the scene of the crash. He is known to police, the detachment said. The stolen truck was seized and towed to a secure location for further investigation.

“We are reminding the public of the dangers of taking the law into your own hands; thankfully, there were no serious injuries in this collision, but that doesn’t justify the actions of anyone involved,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, BC RCMP spokesperson for Northern B.C. “As a member of the public, there is no way for you to know any previous police or criminal history of the person you are dealing with and the dangers you are exposing yourself or those around you to.”

Quesnel RCMP thanked the witnesses who stayed at the scene to speak with police and help the people in the crash. Investigators want to speak with any other witnesses who have not yet come forward. Anyone with information about the incident, Quesnel RCMP file 2026-8636, can call the detachment’s non-emergency line at 250-992-9211. The investigation remains ongoing.
