Shots fired in South Surrey; no injuries, suspects at large, SPS says

Surrey Police Service says it is investigating a shots fired incident in South Surrey on the evening of October 8, with two suspects still at large and no reported injuries. According to SPS, officers responded at approximately 6:51 p.m. to reports of shots fired outside a residential complex in the 100 block of 175A Street.

Police say two suspects, described as men wearing dark clothing, fled the area on foot, and it is unknown whether they are connected to any vehicles. SPS says the suspects were not located despite officers containing and searching the area with help from the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service.

Officers located an individual at the scene who police believe was the intended victim, SPS says. The individual was not injured. According to the release, there have been no reported injuries and it is unknown whether any property was damaged.

SPS investigators and Integrated Forensic Identification Service officers will remain on scene through the night and possibly into Friday, canvassing for witnesses and gathering physical and digital evidence, the service says. SPS says there is no indication at this early stage that the incident is extortion related, but it is believed to have been targeted.

Anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-108223 (SP), or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, according to the release.
