SURREY, B.C. - A 22-year-old man is in hospital in critical condition after a shooting in the Surrey Central area on the night of Monday, November 2, 2026, and Surrey Police Service (SPS) investigators are asking anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
SPS says Frontline officers responded at approximately 9:42 p.m. on November 2 to a report of shots fired in the 9000 block of Snowdon Place. At that location, officers found evidence of a shooting and signs of injury, but no suspects and no victim were on scene when police arrived.
Other SPS Frontline members attended the hospital and located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. SPS says the 22-year-old man remains in hospital in critical condition.
SPS says its Major Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation. Despite the investigation being in the early stages, SPS says there is no indication that the shooting is extortion related.
What police are asking for
Investigators are requesting that anyone with information concerning the shooting, and anyone who was in the area at the time and has dashcam or CCTV footage, contact the Surrey Police Service non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-119173 (SP).
Why this matters in Surrey Central
The shooting happened in the Surrey Central area, the city’s downtown core around Whalley and City Centre, where thousands of residents live in towers and townhomes within a short distance of City Hall, Central City, Simon Fraser University’s Surrey campus and the King George and Surrey Central SkyTrain stations. Gunfire in a residential block in the middle of that neighbourhood is exactly the kind of incident that shakes people who live and work nearby, and the speed of the public’s response, particularly dashcam and doorbell or building CCTV footage from the evening of November 2, can decide how quickly investigators identify who was involved.
The SPS statement that there is no indication the shooting is extortion related will also land with Surrey residents. The city has faced a series of extortion threats and related shootings targeting businesses and homes, and police have repeatedly asked anyone targeted to report it. In this case, SPS is saying that, at this early stage, this shooting does not appear to belong to that pattern.
About the investigation
The Surrey Police Service is Surrey’s municipal police service. Its Major Crime Unit leads the city’s most serious investigations, including shootings. SPS has not released any suspect description, has not said whether the man in hospital was the intended target, and has not announced any arrests. Apna News will update this story as SPS releases more information.
