ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - A 65-year-old man has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of two counts of sexual interference and one count of possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material, Abbotsford police said.
David Massie Douglas was sentenced on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The offences occurred between 2013 and 2021 across multiple jurisdictions, the Abbotsford Police Department said in a release on October 30, 2026.
The case began in early March 2023, when the department’s General Investigation Section started investigating a historic sexual assault allegation reported to police. Investigators executed search warrants and, with help from patrol officers and the department’s Digital Forensics Lab, gathered evidence and identified a suspect.
Douglas was arrested and charged on November 30, 2023, with multiple offences related to the sexual exploitation of children.
Police said the sentence reflects the dedication of investigators who worked to gather evidence, support victims and advance the case through the courts, and that the department’s Sex Crimes Unit works to hold offenders accountable and protect the community. The Abbotsford police file number is 2023-9505.
