ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - A farm tractor driver is in hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries after a pickup truck rear-ended his tractor on Vye Road on Monday evening, and Abbotsford police are asking anyone who saw the crash, or caught it on a dash camera, to come forward.
The collision happened on October 19, just after 7:00 p.m., on Vye Road east of Cole Road. Abbotsford Police Patrol officers responded to the two-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck and a farm tractor.
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, preliminary evidence indicates both vehicles were travelling westbound on Vye Road when the pickup truck collided with the rear of the tractor. The impact caused the tractor to leave the roadway and roll over.
The driver of the tractor sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck did not suffer serious injuries, remained at the scene, and is cooperating with investigators.
The investigation remains in its early stages and is being led by AbbyPD’s Patrol Section, with assistance from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS). Police say alcohol is not a factor in the collision.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, observed the truck and tractor prior to the crash, or may have dash camera footage of the incident to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
