West Kelowna RCMP names Inspector Dolan as first Officer-in-Charge

The Southeast District RCMP has promoted Staff Sergeant Brendan Dolan to the rank of Inspector and named him the first Officer-in-Charge of the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment.

Dolan joined the RCMP in 2003, beginning his career in the Yukon with postings in Whitehorse and Dawson City before transferring to the B.C. RCMP’s North District. Over 23 years, he has worked across federal, provincial and municipal policing, including the Lower Mainland District Integrated Emergency Response Team, Federal Serious and Organized Crime, and as General Investigation Section Commander for the Sunshine Coast detachment.

Most recently, Dolan led the West Kelowna detachment as its non-commissioned officer in charge, guiding it through the de-regionalization process over the past year while acting as detachment OIC. The detachment provides policing services to the City of West Kelowna, Westbank First Nation and the District of Peachland.

“I am honoured to be appointed as the first OIC of the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment,” said Inspector Dolan. “It has been a privilege to serve this community and work alongside the dedicated employees of the detachment.”

Chief Superintendent Shawna Baher, Southeast District Officer, called the appointment an important milestone in the detachment’s history, citing Dolan’s experience, leadership and deep understanding of the communities served.
