SURREY, B.C. - The Surrey Food Bank has received a $25,000 donation from Prospera, Coast Capital and Sunshine Coast Financial, the organization announced on October 9, 2026.
Volunteers and staff posed with the ceremonial cheque, dated October 6, 2026, celebrating the community support as the holiday season approaches. The donation comes at a critical time: the food bank says more than 5,000 people visit its shelves every week, looking for groceries they know and trust.
The Surrey Food Bank is one of British Columbia’s largest food banks. Founded in 1983, it provides supplemental food assistance to low-income individuals and families in Surrey and North Delta, serving nearly 8,000 households a year through its central warehouse, distribution depots and tailored programs for seniors, infants and homebound clients. It is entirely community funded and receives no ongoing core government funding, powered by local donors, corporate sponsors and more than 400 active volunteers.
Because of the food bank’s buying power and partnerships, every dollar donated goes three to four times further than it would at the store.
