SURREY, B.C. - A man arrested in June in an attempted abduction of a child investigation in Surrey has been charged with an additional offence, the Surrey Police Service says.
Liam Robert Dobbs-Morency, 22, was charged on October 19, 2026, with one count of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation materials (CSAEM), police said in a release issued Friday, October 23.
The additional charge follows an investigation by the Surrey Police Service’s Special Investigations Unit. Police said the unit began investigating shortly after the man’s arrest, following reports that he was in possession of CSAEM.
Dobbs-Morency was first arrested by Surrey Police Service members on June 13, 2026. The next day, June 14, he was charged with one count of abduction of a person under 14 years of age and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, in connection with the attempted abduction investigation.
Police said Dobbs-Morency has been in custody since his arrest on June 13 and has since been detained by the court.
The charges against him have not been proven in court. The Surrey Police Service file number for the investigation is 2026-60048.
