Four members were killed in the October 17 incident at the Alberta base. The Canadian Armed Forces has remained focused on supporting the recovery of injured personnel and providing support to their families in the days following the tragedy.

All members and their families will continue to be provided with the full range of Canadian Armed Forces supports available, including assigned Designated Assistants who serve as a vital direct liaison for members and their families.

“The Canadian Armed Forces continues to work closely with medical professionals, provincial health authorities, and support networks to facilitate the ongoing care and recovery of the 25 injured Canadian Armed Forces members who remain hospitalized,” the department said. “Recovery will look different for each injured person and their family. Some may face a long journey ahead, but they will not face it alone.”

The Canadian Armed Forces expressed gratitude to Acute Care Alberta, the provincial health services of Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario, and all federal, regional and municipal partners. “The professionalism, compassion, and expertise of all healthcare professionals and all military and civilian support personnel who have cared for our people and their families since the incident have been invaluable throughout this tremendously difficult period,” the department said.
