LADYSMITH, B.C. - Ladysmith RCMP have released a composite sketch of a man they are trying to identify after a woman reported an indecent act near the Nanaimo River in early September, in an investigation Nanaimo RCMP are helping to publicize.
At approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, a woman reported observing an adult male allegedly commit an indecent act while she was recreating near the Nanaimo River. The area was just north of Spruston Road, close to the boundary between the Nanaimo and Ladysmith RCMP jurisdictions.

The man is described as white, in his late 50s, with a slim build, under 183 centimetres (6 feet) tall, balding on top with light brown hair on the sides. He was last seen wearing light blue swim shorts and carrying a blue towel.
Investigators released the composite sketch, prepared with the assistance of the complainant, in the hope that someone may recognize the individual. The investigation belongs to Ladysmith RCMP (file 2026-3583); Nanaimo RCMP were asked to assist with the media release because of the proximity of the two detachments and the location of the offence.
Anyone who was in the area between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on September 7, 2026, or who may have information that could help identify the man, is asked to contact the Ladysmith RCMP non-emergency line at 250-245-2215.
