OpenAI and ServiceNow have expanded their partnership to bring ServiceNow workflows directly into ChatGPT, letting business teams act on their work without leaving the chat.
The expansion, announced on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, builds on a partnership the companies announced in January. A new ServiceNow integration brings business context and workflow actions into ChatGPT, so an IT team member can find similar incidents, assess the risk of a change, and update a ServiceNow record in the same conversation. Customers connect ChatGPT to their own ServiceNow instance and choose which capabilities to make available, and ServiceNow’s Action Fabric applies the organization’s existing business rules and permissions to whatever actions are taken.
ServiceNow is also previewing interactive experiences inside ChatGPT, including one where an on-call engineer reviews linked monitoring alerts, recent changes and affected services, then assigns the right team and works toward a fix without switching tools.
Three further areas are planned rather than available now. A Codex integration in ServiceNow’s AI Workflow Factory would help developers build applications using ServiceNow’s business context. A joint security solution would combine OpenAI’s cybersecurity capabilities with ServiceNow’s asset, identity and business context to investigate vulnerabilities and coordinate fixes. And a voice experience in ServiceNow’s Super Intelligence Control Tower would let people describe an AI use case aloud to populate assessment fields.
ServiceNow also plans to give all of its employees access to ChatGPT Work and Codex, expanding beyond its engineering organization, and OpenAI says it uses ServiceNow workflows in its own operations.
On timing, the ServiceNow MCP plugin is available in the OpenAI marketplace now, with enhanced capabilities expected by the end of 2026. Voice capabilities are expected in the first quarter of 2027, the security capabilities enter early access in January 2027 with general availability planned for the second quarter of 2027, and Codex in AI Workflow Factory is expected in 2027.
