PORT ALBERNI, B.C. - November 6, 2026
A 38-year-old Port Alberni man has been charged with trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine after a joint investigation by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) and Port Alberni RCMP.
The June arrest: foot pursuit after a traffic stop
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, UGET officers were conducting proactive patrols in Port Alberni when they encountered a man in connection with an observed Motor Vehicle Act infraction. The man fled from police and was arrested following a foot pursuit. Officers located suspected drugs consistent with drug trafficking, and also seized cash and a weapon. The man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and flight from a peace officer.
Charges laid October 29, and a second arrest the same day
On Thursday, October 29, 2026, Corey Lee Joseph Pouliot, a 38-year-old from Port Alberni, was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
Following UGET’s deployment, Port Alberni RCMP’s General Investigation Section continued investigating the man’s alleged drug-trafficking activities. On the same day the charges were laid, Port Alberni RCMP arrested Pouliot, and a search warrant executed on his residence located a firearm and additional drugs. He is expected to appear in court at a later date. The charges have not been proven in court.
What UGET is
CFSEU-BC is the province’s combined-forces anti-gang agency. Its Uniform Gang Enforcement Team works alongside police agencies throughout British Columbia to support local enforcement efforts and address gang-related crime and violence. In this case, the work UGET began during its Port Alberni deployment was carried forward by the local detachment’s investigators for more than four months before charges were laid.
“Strong partnerships allow the work we begin during a deployment to have a lasting impact,” said Sergeant Sarbjit K. Sangha, Media Relations Officer for CFSEU-BC. “UGET officers and Port Alberni RCMP shared information and worked together to advance this investigation.”
